About Aglianico
Aglianico is arguably the most important red grape grown in southern Italy; indeed, it is often referred to as “the Barolo of the South.” Cultivated primarily in Campania and Basilicata, it can also be found in Molise and Puglia. Aglianico produces full-bodied reds marked by notes of black cherry, plum and even hints of violet, chocolate and black pepper. The wines can be consumed in their youth but due to often- formidable tannins, they’re best after a few years of aging in bottle. |
