Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 1996

The grapes from the 1996 harvest were excellent in all aspects: healthy, almost sugar content, excellent polyphenol content thanks to the quality and quantity of its sweet tanins. The Sassicaia 1996 has a full polyphenolic content well balanced, and you can feel the presence of sweet tannins, which makes the wine truly aristocratic. These tannins already matured.

Grattamacco Rosso 1994

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, this Rosso is a world-class wine. The slightly rustic ’94 has the rough edges and warm personality of a gentleman farmer. Lovely aromas of earth, cherry, cedar and smoke lay atop a palate of dark plum and blackberries, all struck with minerality and charming acidity. Drinking now.

Domenico Clerico Barolo Percristina 2003

Clerico's reserve Barolo, the Percristina (named after his daughter who tragically died at the age of seven), is made from grapes grown in the Mosconi vineyard in the Monforte d'Alba zone of Barolo. This small vineyard site is found on a steep hill with southern aspect and a soil of white tufa that gives wines of unusual structure and tannin. The '03 displays a sweet bouquet of over-ripe black fruit accented with rich chocolate that seems swirled with smoke. This wine requires some cellaring before it will come into its own.
