Petrolo Torrione 2006
Torrione is known for being an inveterate performer, a condition that is achieved in off-years through the addition of Merlot. This was particularly beneficent in the 2002 vintage, which was blighted by rain; in fact, the estate was recognized as one of the top Tuscan performers of the vintage. In the past, Tuscan winemakers frequently blended Sangiovese with other varietals, a trademark of the Super-Tuscan movement. In modern practice, however, winemakers are increasingly producing monovarietal bottlings of Sangiovese, attesting to the grape’s inherent ability to perform on a solo basis.

Tua Rita Rosso di Notri 2007
Bright with red fruit, cheery with warm spices, zesty with acidity, this 100% Sangiovese brings the fun—and the value. Plump and juicy, the '08 Rosso dei Notri is the go-to Tua Rita, a wine for dinner with the family on a Thursday night. Drinking for the next five years, probably longer.
