Aldo Conterno Bussiador
Aldo Conterno's wines are definitely more fruit driven and accessible than the earthier wines of Giacomo Conterno. We have long championed the offerings of Aldo Conterno, not only because he is the King of Barolo, but because he's one of the top wine producers in the world.

Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Colonnello 1989
The Colonnello cru is best, perhaps, for those collectors whose patience falls short of infinite, as it is the most reliably approachable of the single-vineyard expressions. A fresh nose of dried flowers and fennel is followed by a juicy palate of ripe red plums, strawberries, and kirsch liqueur. Good structure, bright acidity, and velvety tannins make the Colonnello suave, elegant, and eminently drinkable at any age.

Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Vigna Romirasco 2005 750ml
While Aldo Conterno only produces the Romirasco Barolo in vintages were he doesn't feel the conditions are ideal enough for his famed Granbussia, this Barolo is still one of incredible appeal and structure. This dark colored wine has a traditional nose of flowers, earth, tar and smoke, followed by a medium-bodied palate of smooth, mouth filling tannins and acidity.
