Movia Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

Before he gave his life over to his vines, Ales Kristancic was a champion ballroom dancer, and his Cabernet Sauvignon embodies the grace, muscularity and winsomeness of that sport. Berries, cherries, sultana raisins and spice rest atop a bed of spice and earth, but for all that fruity density, this wine is still light on its toes, sprightly with acidity, and possessing an elegant backbone.

Movia Merlot 2005

Like Movia’s maker, Ales Kristancic, this Merlot dances between unique extremes. This dry, fruit-forward interpretation of Merlot puts its earthy, woodsy foot forward in a lively body that excites the senses. It’s a wine that will make you reconsider everything you thought you knew about Merlot.

Movia Veliko Rosso 2003

The Veliko Rosso (Rdece in Slovenian) —which literally means “Big
Red”—is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Pinot Nero. While
the name is not a misnomer, given the wine’s full body, this is a
shapely, toned red that cuts a lean figure, charged with an acidity that
is almost racy—quite nearly like that of a white, in fact. The
monovarietal Cabernet is of the same mode, as it does not abuse the
varietal through excessive alcohol levels or over- extraction—it is a
Cabernet of finesse. Another minimalist feature: As both are technically
labeled as Slovenian wines, as opposed to Italian, they represent
tremendous values.
