Revisting Dal Forno
Thanks to the great interest that our last Dal Forno offer excited among collectors, we've decided to make the wines available once more. This second offering will be made for only a limited amount of time, so let us know if you would like to join the "Dal Forno" club of those fortunate enough to own a bottle or two of these remarkable wines.

Dal Forno Romano Amarone 2003
Dal Forno crafts a wine unlike any other in the Veneto. Even in this tricky vintage, using strict vineyard management and sophisticated technique in the cellar he achieves density, weight, complexity and polish that simply don’t exist in concert in the wines of any other producer. Dal Forno’s Amarone well deserves its reputation as one of Italy’s best.A blend of Corvinone (60%), Rondinella (20%), Croatina (10%), and Oselata (10%) made in the appassimento style—the grapes are spread on straw mats for three months to drain them of their water and concentrate their sugar, crushed and fermented in a stainless steel vat for six days during which the cap is submerged with rigorous frequency, and aged in new French oak barriques for two years then in the bottle for 12 months more. This rich, expansive wine is one of the best of its kind.

Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore 2005
A massive powerful wine that is at its heart an Amarone, this '05 Valpolicella holds the kind of mystifying complexity that will strike to the heart of any wine connoisseur. Crafted from raisined grapes as an Amarone is, this wine has serious heft. Blackberries, blueberries, violets, leather, underbrush, tar and crushed rocks work in glorious concert, but this wine is so dizzying in its complexity that notes are hard to parse. Structured and balanced, this Valpolicella is drinking now and for the next decade, probably longer.

Dal Forno Romano Amarone della Valpolicella 2004
A wine so-red-it's-almost-black, the color of the '04 Dal Forno Amarone is the first clue to the wine's density, richness and opulence. A wine whose regal voluptuousness recalls the sumptuous trappings of the heyday of the Orient Express, this '04 has textures, flavors, and aromatics for days. Ripe, juicy brambly berries; bittersweet chocolate; wafting tobacco smoke; riverbed rocks; and new saddle leather swirl and meld to make drinking this magnificent Amarone a celestial experience. Cellar for a couple of years and then drink for two or more decades.
